Contact Sports Coverage
Available as optional with Emergency Medical Insurance
Maximum limit – Up to the Policy limit
Coverage is available for persons 18 years and over
Love a little competition? Whether you’re on the field or in the ring, Contact Sports Coverage protects you while you’re travelling outside of your home province or country of permanent residence. This insurance coverage applies when travellers (ages 18+) participate in, coach, teach, train or practice on behalf of a registered team, league, association, club or while competing in a registered tournament, competition, or sporting event.

Coverage to the extreme
For your more daring customers, all they need is Sports & Activities Optional Coverage to take their travels to the next level.
All sports/activities have a specific surcharge and minimum and maximum premium.
- If a traveler selects more than one sport/activity, they’ll only be charged for the sport/activity with the highest surcharge and will be covered for all sports/ activities selected.
- The policy declaration page will include all the sports/ activities that were selected as well as their benefit limits.
- The traveller must select all the specific sports/ activities they’ll be participating in, or training and practicing for during their trip, and pay the applicable surcharge, or risk not having coverage for those sports/activities during their trip.
Adventure Sports Coverage

For adventure-seekers who love exploring the great outdoors and testing their physical limits, this coverage applies when you participate in, coach, teach, train, or practice the following sports and activities:

- Downhill Mountain Biking*
- Downhill Skating
- Endurance Activities over 6 Hours
- Hang Gliding
- High Risk Snowmobiling*
- Ice Climbing
- Luge/Skeleton
- Mountaineering up to 6,000 Metres*
- Non-motorized X Game Sports (or those sports in similar type events)
- Parachuting/Skydiving/Tandem Skydiving (more than one jump per trip)

- Parasailing/Parascending over Land

Extreme Sports Coverage

Maximum limit – $500,000
Love living life to the limit? Coverage is available for extreme sports enthusiasts like you, who live for a thrill! This insurance applies when you participate in, coach, teach, train, or practice the following sports and activities:

- Base Jumping
- Bull Riding/Bull Fighting
- Free Diving over 30 Metres
- Motorized Speed Contests*
- Motorized X Game Sports (or those sports in similar type events)
- Mountaineering over 6,000 Metres*
- Rodeo*
- Running with the Bulls
- Scuba Diving (if not certified by an internationally recognized and accepted program)
- Scuba Diving over 30 Metres
- Ultimate Fighting & Mixed Martial Arts
- Wingsuit Jumping/ Wingsuit Flying.

Excluded Activities
Whatever sport you’re into, be sure that it’s covered. If it’s not listed above under Contact Sports, Adventure Sports or Extreme Sports, we may cover it under our standard Emergency Medical Insurance, unless it’s listed below as an excluded activity:
- Coaching, teaching, participating, practicing, or training for out-of-bounds skiing
- Coaching, teaching, participating, practicing, or training for out-of-bounds snowboarding
- Coaching, teaching, participating, practicing, or training for out-of-bounds snowshoeing
- Coaching, teaching, participating, practicing, or training for out-of-bounds non-motorized snow-biking
All sports/activities not listed in the Sports & Activities Optional Coverage are covered under the Emergency Medical Insurance plan, without having to purchase this optional coverage, with the exception of:
- Barrel racing
- Bronc riding
- Bull riding
- Chariot racing
- Chuck wagon racing
- Harness racing
- Rodeo bareback riding
- Rodeo clowning
- Rodeo team roping
- Steer wrestling/ chute dogging
- Trick riding
The following are also excluded if participating, training or practicing in any areas that have been closed off to public access and/or can typically only be accessed by crossing a fenced, gated or roped-off area that has been marked as off limits according to recommendations of safety authorities in the area.

- Downhill freestyle skiing/snowboarding in organized competitions
- High risk snowmobiling
- Ice climbing
- Mountaineering
- Rock climbing
Any of the sports or activities listed in the Sports and Activities Optional Coverages unless the applicable optional coverage has been purchased.
