Eligibility

You are legible for coverage if:

  • You are a Canadian resident.
  • The expenses you incur result from an acute, sudden, and unexpected emergency.
  • The emergency first occurs, and the medical treatment is provided outside your home province.
  • You are not travelling against a physician’s advice; or
  • You have not been diagnosed with a terminal condition

Pre-existing Condition Coverage

For Worldwide & Excluding USA Plans:
59 years and under
• 7-day stability period for trips of 35 days and less
• 90-day stability period for trips over 35 days
60 to 74 years
• 180-day stability period for all trip lengths
75 years and over
• 365-day stability period for all trip lengths
For Travel within Canada Plans
There is no stability requirement for pre-existing medical conditions

 

Exclusion

The following will not be covered

  • Condition and/or symptom other than a minor ailment, which arose or worsened on the date of departure, or at any time within the seven days prior to the date of departure.
  • Condition and/or symptom for which medical treatment was obtained on the date of departure or any time within the seven days prior to the date of departure.
  • Condition and/or symptom that developed before departure and was undiagnosed at time of departure
  • Non-emergency treatment
  • Long term or ongoing care
  • Tests and investigative consultation

Family & friends plan
A family & friends rate is available for up to two travelers 59 years or under and up to 6 children.*
*Applies to children up to age 21, if residing with their parents/guardians or up to age 25, if full-time students. No age limit applies for children with cognitive, developmental, or physical disabilities

 

Deductible

Applicable to the following Emergency Medical plans:

  • Automatic $300 USD for worldwide and excluding USA
  • Automatic $300 CAD for within Canada plans
  • Buy-out option available or other deductible options for premium discount

Policy Extension

If you decide to stay longer you can extend your period of coverage before your policy expires if you have not submitted a claim and have no intent to submit a claim.

Sports & Activities Coverage

Contact Sports – Provides coverage for contact sports (for 18 years and over) – sum insured up to policy limit. Surcharge will apply

Adventure Sports – Provides coverage for adventure sports – sum insured up to policy limit. Surcharge will apply

Extreme Sports – Provides coverage for extreme sports – sum insured up to policy limit. Surcharge will apply

Baggage Insurance

Up to $1,500 per insured to a maximum of $3,000 for the family & friends plan Includes:
• Coverage for loss, damage, destruction or theft of personal effects
• Up to $100 currency because of loss or theft
• Up to $200 for personal necessities if baggage is delayed beyond 12 hours

 

 

Rental Car Protection

Available as an add-on optional coverage to a Single Trip plan or package, Rental Car coverage is perfect for Canadian residents and visitors to Canada. Protect your rental vehicle against damage or loss whether you’re traveling in the next province or abroad. Up to $75,000 for physical damage to a rented or leased vehicle.

  • Physical damage to a leased/rented automobile
  • Loss of a leased/rented automobile
  • Towing, salvage, fire department charges, custom duties, and reasonable loss of use.
